Avastin Injection

Avastin is a form of medication that helps delay the progression of vision loss from diabetic eye diseases such as age-related macular degeneration and other retinal problems.

How it works

When a dose of Avastin is injected into the eye, it prevents abnormal blood vessels (that may affect and cause vision loss) from growing and leaking fluids into the back of the eye.

PRP (Panretinal Photocoagulation Laser)

Panretinal Photocoagulation (or PRP) is a kind of retinal laser treatment that reduces the risk of blindness and vision loss among patients with a growth of abnormal blood vessels, due to diabetic retinopathy and other retinal problems, from developing further around the retina.

How it works

Although it does not require anesthesia, topical anesthesia may be administered to numb the eye and minimize discomfort during the procedure. A laser lens is placed between the eyelids to keep the patient from blinking. The laser is then applied to the peripheral retina and shrinks the abnormal blood vessels.

Fluorescein Angiography

Fluorescein Angiography is an eye test performed by injecting a special dye into the bloodstream of the retina in order to highlight the blood vessels and determine if there is adequate blood circulation in the eye

How it works

This eye test allows the doctor to accurately diagnose eye diseases, such as macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy.
